SHORE SAUNA

For a soft gentle heat

Prices from £12 (Individual Seats)

Shore is ESS’s newest  Seaside Sauna. Its name is a reference to Shore’s position, level with the shoreline, at the end of Elie Harbour’s ‘Dinghy Park’, opposite Elie Harbour car park and near Nosebag, Galley Café.

Shore is tucked behind a low level dune, overlooking Elie Harbour, across to the buildings of Elie, with moody views of Largo Law, beyond.

On windy days, you’ll be entertained by great kite and wind surfers. Though even on windy days, with a shallow gradual rake, Harbour Beach is safe for dipping.

Lined with dark thermal-Alder, Shore has a slightly darker feel to it, than Dune, that contrasts with the view from its large picture window. The heat is also gentler and less intense.

Shore also has a small hanging area. Though this is too small to be used for changing. If you need to change please do this on the deck, to allow those going in and out a clear path, to do so.

At 4.5 tons, Shore arrived on Elie Harbour, on the back of a HIAB truck, in early 2024.

Shore is what was originally aspired for, for Elie Seaside Sauna, a large shared space that the saunas’ various communities can use, along with visitors, on an ad hoc, or regular basis, providing a space for sauna rituals, events and large groups, as well as for individuals, or small groups to book individual seats, in shared sessions, reflecting the true ethos of sauna. If you are happy sharing a sauna with other people, this is the sauna for you!

If you wish to book the whole of Shore, you have to book all 10 seats. For super-large groups, you can combine your booking along with a booking for Dune sauna.

Shore is limited to 10 people, but can accommodate a ‘cosy’ 12.

Elie Seaside Sauna will be using Shore, in some cases, along with Dune, for various retreats and special events. If you are interested in booking Shore, or both saunas, for a special occasion, we can add yoga classes and other add-ons and point you in the direction of Toll Green Hall and a range of caterers, if you wish to add lunch, or refreshments afterwards.

Cool downs are provided by a walk to the sea. If the tide is out, this walk provides time for a proper cooldown, before re-entering the sauna. You can also lie down on the deck, to gaze at the stars, in winter, or sit in one of our deckchairs, in summer.
